I scream, you scream, we all...

Next Tuesday, July 15, we going to take a quick detour from our bike routes to hit the lakefront and Memorial Union Terrace and grab some Babcock Hall ice cream before cruising back to the Clean Wisconsin office!
You'll want to bring your sweet tooth to this one.
The Ride
This week, our short ride is the 11-mile Shorewood Hills route, and the longer ride is the 24-mile Lake Mendota loop. Check out the route maps here.
As always, rides are at your own pace, which means you're welcome to ride together as a group, but are also free to do whatever you want: power ahead, stop to take pictures, etc. Rides are family-friendly and open to all riders!
We leave at 5:30 p.m. from the Clean Wisconsin office, 634 W. Main St., Madison. If you need to drive, there is limited lot parking, but a fair amount of street parking.
The Event
Both routes go near the Memorial Union Terrace, so we'll take a little break for ice cream and chitchat before heading back to the office. This is a BYOW, bring-your-own-wallet, event, so be sure to tuck a few bucks under your helmet.
So we can plan accordingly, RSVP on Facebook.
Other notes
Weather policy. It's our intent to send an email and post on Facebook by 8 p.m. Monday night if we're cancelling due to bad and/or dangerous weather. However, please check the Bike Club website, the Clean Wisconsin Facebook page, or email us at bikerides@cleanwisconsin.org throughout the day on Tuesday if the weather is questionable! If we do need to cancel, Wednesday is our rain date for both the ride and post-ride event!

It's a Bike-Q-Que!

Thanks to everyone who came out last time for our first ride of the season and Pizza on the Patio. It was a gorgeous day for a ride, and the great company just made it that much better!

Hopefully you're all just as excited for our Clean Wisconsin & Friends Bike Club event - next Tuesday (6/17)!

Our planned rides: the short ride is the 11-mile Shorewood Hills route, and the longer ride is the 18-mile Capital City ride. Check out the route maps here.

We leave at 5:30 p.m. from the Clean Wisconsin office, 634 W. Main St., Madison. If you need to drive, there is limited lot parking, but a fair amount of street parking. Remember that rides are at your own pace, which means you're welcome to ride together as a group, but are also free to do whatever you want: power ahead, stop to take pictures, etc. We'll probably try to leave a little earlier on the long ride (like actually hit the road at 5:30) so that we get back at a similar time to the short one.

After the ride: we'll regroup for a Bike-B-Que! We'll hit the patio for burgers and brats and other Bike-B-Que-ish fare. (Need a veggie or gluten-free option? Email Amanda.) We hope you'll stick around to refuel and chat with Clean Wisconsin staff and fellow bikers.

So we can plan accordingly, please RSVP on Facebook

There is no cost for Bike-B-Que!

Ride 14

Having skipped a blog post on Ride 13 (for luck!), we're back with another awesome ride lined up for tomorrow.

As many of you are aware, we've been having a great time - first with a strong contingent on the longer double loop out east toward the CG two weeks ago (and of course a good crew on the shorter ride as well), then a solid showing pedaling around Lake Monona last week.

This week, the main show will be our Isthmus Bi-Coastal route, hopefully capitalizing on some lake breeze to keep us cool. The longer riders will head out to Paoli one last time in the season to stretch their legs before the sun sets at 7:49.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

We had a great ride last week--who will join us this week?

We had a great ride last week, with a nice, big group, including several first-timers.  Thanks for joining us, you guys!  The whole group went on a beautiful jaunt through Maple Bluff and back downtown via the wonderful Starkweather Creek Trail.  The weather couldn't have been better.

This week, your options are 1. a shorter, more reasonably paced ride through the near-south and near-west sides of Madison, along Wingra Creek and around Lake Wingra and the beautiful parks and open spaces that predominate in that watershed and 2. a longer, faster-paced ride through the countryside east of Madison via the Lake Monona loop. Both promise to be great rides.  Hopefully the weather will also be great.

Ride routes will be posted here (http://cleanwisconsinbikeclub.blogspot.com/p/routes.html) soon.  If you're going to join us, all you need is a bike and a helmet (probably a water bottle too), and you just need to be here (634 W. Main St. in Madison) before 5:30 on Thursday.

Please join us, whether you've been on a ride with us before or not.  We have a great group of folks who will welcome you no matter what.  Looking forward to seeing you out there...
